Getting Fit Is A Lifestyle Choice - Part 2

Once you've helped your children find the right activity, the next step is making sure they have time to do it every day. Kids tend to have a lot on their plates. School can be very challenging, requiring a good deal of homework time. Kids, especially older ones, often have chores at home. When all is said and done, there is not a lot of time left for activity.

The best way to get activity into your child's day is to help him or her plan something specific and to plan it at least 24 hours in advance. Keep in mind that as your kids get older and become adults, life doesn't get any less busy. If anything, they will feel more pressed for time. If you help them get into the habit of daily activity at a young age, they will carry this habit with them into adulthood.

Here are some tips to help make sure your child gets a daily dose of activity

  • Reduce the amount of time spent watching TV

  • Go to bed earlier and do something active before school, first thing in the morning

  • Choose an activity that can be done any time, anywhere, such as Gymathtics by Exploramania

  • Make it something that can easily be done at home. Again, Gymathtics is a great choice!

  • Choose an organized sport that meets regularly for practice and games/competition, such as soccer, baseball or cheerleading

  • Combine activity with family fun outings such as swimming at the beach or playing frisbee at the park

Even when you are pressed for time, remember that Gymathtics is a great solution. It can be done at home, it doesn't matter what the weather is, it takes just 30 minutes and your kids will learn and have fun at the same time.
